Come See The Velvet Hammer Burlesque

We are pleased to announce the St. James Infirmary's involvement with

Frameline 28 – The San Francisco International Lesbian and Gay Film Festival! This year we are co-presenting the following program with the Festival.

The Velvet Hammer Burlesque

Friday June 18  |  10:30 pm  |  Herbst

$8 members   |   $9 general   |   VELV18H

With stage names like Bubbles La Rue, Dirty Martini, and Ming Dynatease, the women of the Velvet Hammer Burlesque bring the fine art of striptease to a whole new level. Sexy, bold, daring, and brash, they’re unafraid to show some leg, and they don’t believe that beauty comes in a bottle. Celebrating a wide range of body types and personal styles, these women promise to show you a whole lot of flouncing flesh — and more!

Directed by Velvet Hammer’s own Augusta, THE VELVET HAMMER BURLESQUE chronicles the group’s history and features interviews with members who explain their own wild urges for taking their clothes off. Tips on how to strip, original audition tapes, and scenes from live shows are also included. With “Creativity Above All” as their motto, these women do one hell of a job of dressing up the old art of seduction.

In IS YOUR WIFE A SECRET LESBIAN?, filmmaker Szu Burgess’s campy lesbian porn makes creative reuse of vintage 16mm stag films (from 1930 to 1969), woven together with a lesbian propaganda piece from a 1966 Photo Magazine.      — Erin Cullerton
